The Children/Youth Director will provide pastoral care for the children and youth of the Springdale Corps, direct and supervise all youth activities and programs at the Corps, and will contribute to the spiritual development of the children and youth by mentoring, discipling, encouraging and modeling appropriate Christian attitudes and behaviours.


Promote and supervise all existing programs for children and youth within the Springdale Corps

Seek to develop new ministries, where possible, to increase the level of spiritual maturity among the children and youth

Provide pastoral support to all children and youth that may be involved in various ministries

Contribute to the spiritual development of children and youth by mentoring, discipling, encouraging and modeling appropriate Christian attitudes and behaviours

Plan, promote and supervise special events i.e. Rally Day, VBS, camp and divisional youth opportunities

Prepare and conduct creative worship services, evangelistic outreach , care programs and Bible Study as applicable

Conduct regular leadership team meetings

Maintain written records, activity logs and statistics

Organize and hold fundraising events as required

Interact with community partners and seek out resources to provide services to youth

Participate in or attend school events where applicable



Related degree or diploma or equivalent job experience

Possess a strong personal commitment to Christ and spiritually mature

Have a passion for youth and youth ministry

Ability to uphold the mission, vision and values of The Salvation Army

Possess a high standard of integrity, judgement and confidentiality

Be highly creative and possess excellent organization skills. Be  self-motivated

Possess good interpersonal and conflict management skills

Possess good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to plan and facilitate meetings

Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision

Be proficient in Microsoft Office, Work, Publisher and PowerPoint

Having musical and computer skills would be an asset

Obtain a Criminal Police/Vulnerable Sector Check and clearance through The Salvation Army internal abuse registry

Willing to complete The Salvation Army Armatus on-line abuse training

Be willing to sign The Salvation Army Code of Conduct for Working with Children, Youth and Vulnerable Persons and The Salvation Army Code of Conduct Receipt & Acknowledgement Form

Terms:  Contractual, one year term commencing February 1, 2020; Part-time 15 hours per week
