Caseworker
Description
Caseworker provides supervision and support for guests as required by The Salvation Army and funding contract policies and procedures
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Represent and work within the mission, vision & values of The Salvation Army and Ridge Meadows Ministries
- Use a client-centered approach by consistently demonstrating compassion, respect and empathy
- Support, where and when possible, the efforts of all residents and co-workers
- Supports, advocates for and refers clients in helping empower them to become more self-sufficient, and help them re-integrate into the greater community.
- Develops and implements case management of assigned clients/residents; assists in establishing goals, monitoring progress, and prepares discharge plan
- Maintains and updates all appropriate documentation/case notes related to clients/residents and initiates any new documentation
- Monitors appropriate behaviour; intervenes in crisis situations, provides emotional support and advocacy as required
- Prepare/complete all reports required by the funder and The Salvation Army
- Liaises with Police, funders, court personnel, community agencies, families, and other staff members
- Perform other related duties as assigned

HOURS:
- Normal Work week: Monday - Friday 40 hours
- Flexibility in Hours/Days is expected
- Temporary Contract until April 13th, 2025.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education/Certifications:
- Completed more than two (2) years of Community College and/or Diploma or Degree in social services field
- Current valid BC driver’s license and clean driving record an asset
- CPR, First Aid, Naloxone, and Non-Violent Crisis Training or obtain as condition of employment
- Successful obtainment of clearance through the Criminal Records Review Program
Experience:
- Preference given to those who have prior related experience in social services environment
Required Skills/Knowledge:
- Effective communication skills, attentive listening, and alertness to reactions of clients
- Adaptability to change and frequent interruptions
- Willingness to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Computer and word processing ability
- Ability to lift more than 10 kgs (22 pounds)

- Strong service ethic and a friendly disposition with the public
- Team oriented and able to take initiative
- Ability to work with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment
- High standards of integrity and confidentiality
Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:
- Background check consent
- A clear vulnerable sector screening
- A clean drivers abstract
- Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training
