Description

TERMS     

  • Regular, Part-time (24 hours/week)
  • Thursday, Saturday, Sunday (11:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.)
  • Number of Vacancies: 1

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Adheres to the policies and standards of The Salvation Army as established in policy and program manuals, Health & Safety Guidelines, job descriptions, written memos, and verbal agreements.
  • Develops and implements case management of assigned guests with trauma informed care; assists clients/guests in establishing goals, monitoring progress, and prepares discharge plan
  • Performs intake and discharge procedures for clients/guests as assigned
  • Complete Vulnerability Assessment Tool for guests
  • Accompany guests who need assistance going to appointments, looking for housing or other services
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality of all information regarding
  • Maintains and updates all appropriate documentation (including in-out and incident logbooks) related to clients/residents and initiates any new documentation; complete all reports required by the funder and The Salvation Army
  • Monitors appropriate behavior; intervenes in crisis situations, provides emotional support and advocacy as required
  • Record and maintain statistical information regarding clients within parameters set by The Salvation Army and contractual obligations with
  • Search out and locate resources for guests and work with other service agencies to advocate for clients.
  • Represent Richmond House and attend community network groups as required, representing the Salvation Army
  • Participate in developing programs and procedures related to the needs of
  • Liaises with police, court personnel, community agencies, families, and other staff members
  • Performs other duties as assigned, which may include but not limited to: administrative duties, group work, participation in leadership team, assist with reporting, and preparing for accreditation, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to adhere to the Mission Statement of The Salvation Army Richmond House Emergency Shelter.

Education/Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work or related field
  • Training in Vulnerability Assessment Tool (VAT), Non-violent Crisis Intervention Training
  • Training in crisis intervention, conflict resolution and mediation skills is essential.
  • Must have First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Must have a Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a vehicle

Experience:

  • Have 2-5 years of prior related experience including frontline casework experience in a social service environment with 3-5 years’ experience at a supervisory position

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Must demonstrate a positive attitude towards the homeless and individuals with substance abuse and concurrent problems, including mental health concerns.
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal, organizational and time management skills
  • Have a thorough knowledge of homelessness and of the issues facing clients
  • Must be sensitive to and respectful of cultural and lifestyle diversity
  • Intermediate computer skills.

OTHER CONDITIONS / REQUIREMENTS

  • Successful obtainment of Enhanced Reliability Status Security Clearance
  • Successful obtainment of clearance through the Criminal Record Check under the Criminal Records Review Program
  • Successful obtainment of clearance through The Salvation Army Child Abuse Registry
  • Possess valid First Aid/CPR certificate or obtain as condition of employment prior to the end of probationary period.
  • The incumbent must take the following precautionary measures (in addition to health and safety rules):
    • Universal Precautions
    • Immunization for Hepatitis B and vaccination against Tuberculosis

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • Background check consent.
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening.
  • A clean drivers abstract.
  • Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.
