This position provides advice and guidance to the Territorial Candidates Secretary by researching information relevant to the recruitment of candidates for the different pathways to full time service  within our organization, specifically Millennials and Generation Z. The purpose of this role is to help to define, understand, assess, foster, and cultivate interest and engagement for full time service with The Salvation Army. This role provides support in the areas of research, policy alignment, program development and best practices concerning candidate recruitment.


1. Research

  • Create and engage in relevant quantitative research with respect to Candidate recruitment (specifically for Millennials/Generation Z) in collaboration with the Territorial Candidates Secretary and the Candidates Department.
  • Research and suggest best practices for Candidate recruitment with suggestions for The Salvation Army Candidates department.
  • Complete research in a teamwork relationship with the Territorial Candidates Secretary and the Candidate Department.
  • Identify areas requiring improvement in Candidate Recruitment for the Territorial Candidates Secretary and the Candidate Department and provide potential strategies to make those improvements.

2. Research Communication

  • Manage communication and training strategies to continually inform and update
  • Explain research procedures and share findings with interested parties
  • Use relevant technology to capture critical research-based evidence to ensure clarity
  • Take initiative to ensure that the research gathered reflects the needs of the organization and provides next steps for the Candidates Department.
  • Coordinate effective communication of the results of the research study


  • Grade 12 diploma is required.
  • Working toward completion of a university degree in social sciences (psychology, theology, sociology, etc.), human resources, theology or related field
  • Up to one (1) year of working experience.
  • Experience working on a research project would be considered an asset.

Hours - This is a full-time temporary position: 35 hours/week for 8 weeks.
