Description
position Purpose summary:
The Business Coordinator acts as a member of the management team and assists in many different aspects of the Business Operations, including recording financial transactions related to business activities and ensuring timely and accurate reporting requirements for New Directions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Processing documentation for accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Processing of human resources documentation.
- To be a member of the management team.
- To fulfill all documentation and reporting according to contractual requirements of Correctional Service of Canada.
Written and Verbal Communication
- To complete all documentation paperwork and adhere to submission deadlines
- To communicate with, and provide financial documentation to Salvation Army finance, HR and funders
Reporting
- Responsible for providing reporting documentation to Salvation Army finance, human resources and funders
CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
- Administrative duties in a community-based facility for for adult male offenders
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Office in a community-based correctional setting

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
- Diploma in business social services or related field of study
- Post-Secondary education in the area of business administration at a minimum of a community college level
- Non-violent crisis intervention certification and CPR/First Aid certification, or willing to obtain
- Provide an original copy of a police check with vulnerable sector screening
- Alternative combination of education and experience may be considered
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of prior business administration experience
- Develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Skills and Capabilities:
- Must have experience working with relevant computer programs including MS Office, Outlook and financial reporting systems and working knowledge of standard office equipment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening.
- Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Strong oral and written communication
