Description

The Assistant City Coordinator position for the 2022 Edmonton Christmas Kettle Campaign is a short term contract position. The successful candidate provides assistance to the City Coordinator and oversight to the Campaign in Edmonton, Alberta.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise and support evening shift Area/Zone leaders throughout the Campaign
  • Supervise and support evening shift Kettle volunteers throughout the Campaign
  • Recruit, schedule, communicate and support volunteers
  • Maintain and update volunteer schedules in Better Impact
  • Ensure all Kettle supplies are on hand and throughout the Campaign as required
  • Ensure all Kettle supplies are delivered to and picked up from city locations as required
  • Ensure all Kettle proceeds are collected and handled appropriately at the end of each day
  • Ensure accurate and timely/daily updates of the Campaign’s progress are available to City Coordinator for inclusion in media announcements
  • Other related duties as required, in addition to providing supports to the Edmonton Volunteer Program

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Enthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities
  • Good decision making, organizational and leadership skills
  • Good computer skills: MS Office, Better Impact, or other website and data base skills
  • Valid driver’s license and a reliable personally owned vehicle required
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer and organizational information
  • Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities
  • Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds may be required
  • Position involves working alone for 4 – 5 hours per shift
  • Respect and understanding of the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army
  • A Criminal Background Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required
  • A Driver’s Abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required
