• Perform general office duties such as answer and screen telephone calls and direct enquires and answer inquires, greet and escort visitors, file documents electronically or manually; photocopy and distribute materials as requested; and send and receive fax/email material as requested; resolve routine inquires.
• Open and distribute incoming mail and process out-going mail, which maybe of confidential nature, receive parcel(s) and distribute to the appropriate person(s).
• Draft and type correspondence, maintain the database as it pertains to statistical reports and volunteers.
• Draft and prepare presentations, brochures, fliers, advertisements, invitations, certificates subject to supervisory approval (e.g. powerpoint presentations).
• Schedule meetings, prepare agenda and take minutes; type and circulate minutes.
• Ordering of stationery supplies and maintain adequate office supplies and other supplies; may arrange for maintenance of office equipment.
• Perform other position related duties as required.


• High School Diploma with administrative strengths in areas relative to the above responsibilities.
• Completion of some job related Certificates is preferred.
• Prior related work experience.
• Have experience dealing with office equipment and tools.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Self-motivated and disciplined.
• Ability to lift/move more than 30 lbs. (14 kg).
• Have proficient typing skills.
• Computer literate in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher.
• Experience and/or working knowledge of other computer programs such as Microsoft Office and Lotus Notes would be an asset.
• Experience and/or working knowledge of projection equipment and associated computer programs.
• An understanding of the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.
• As the work will be in a Salvation Army Church office and interconnected with Salvation Army Community Ministry activities it will be beneficial for the candidate to have knowledge of the type of environment they will be working in.
