This position is a casual/relief position with no guaranteed hours.  Work will be offered as per the normal hours of work.

This is a unionized position.

Plans, schedules, implements, promote and evaluate monthly and annual activities and events, which are in keeping with the interest and capabilities of all Residents.

Records information about Residents on Point Clic Care and maintains daily documentation concerning the Resident’s participation and abilities in activities.

Participates and/or chairs meetings as assigned or required.

Requisitions supplies and services for events through Supervisor.

Maintains close liaison with departments, volunteers, families, Residents and community groups.

Performs errands outside the Home.

Responsible for development and revision of program plans as required.

Encourages and motivates Residents to participate in activities, ensuring accessibility.  (Prompting, reminding, or portering)

Prepares supplies and equipment necessary for program delivery.

Performs clerical functions specific to the department.

Ensures all chemical purchases are reported to the Supervisor and those containers are labeled with WHMIS labels & MSDS manual is in your office.

Performs A.D.L (Activities of Daily Living) duties such as hygiene, toileting and feeding as necessary on outings.

Requests work orders for maintenance through Director of Environmental Services.

Further training may be required to perform therapy as prescribed by the physio and/or occupational therapists.

Perform other position related duties as required.


University or College Degree/Diploma in Recreation with emphasis on gerontology or therapeutic studies.

Two (2) years Volunteer or one (1) year work experience in similar setting.

Demonstrate leadership, decision making, problem solving and communication skills

Provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.  The screening is secured either through the National Canadian Policy Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.

May require screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.

Support for and an understanding of the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.
