Last August, when a 7.2 earthquake and Tropical Storm Grace combined to devastate Haiti, compassionate supporters like you enabled The Salvation Army to mobilize immediately and help. More than 2,000 families were provided food, drinking water, hygiene and sanitation items, as well as emotional and spiritual care.

“Thanks to the generosity of Canadians, lives have been changed, but Haiti continues to need our help today.”

Ever since the massive 2010 earthquake that killed more than 230,000 people, the hard-hit nation continues to struggle with overwhelming needs. We have been on the ground, working hard to provide long-term recovery programs, housing, agriculture and employment-skills training to Haitian families. But due to persistent political turmoil, progress has been slow.

“I’ve travelled to Haiti and seen firsthand The Salvation Army’s capabilities and long-term rebuilding programs,” says Lt-Colonel Brenda Murray, International Development Director for The Salvation Army Canada. “Thanks to the generosity of Canadians, lives have been changed, but Haiti continues to need our help today.”
