Harold Kwan of Moncton likes to show his support by taking part in fundraising events. The only difference \u2013 he\u2019s just four years old.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Sharing and Helping Others<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Harold attends The Salvation Army <a href=\"https:\/\/salvationarmy.ca\/atlantic\/2020\/05\/small-blessings-new-normal\/\">Small Blessings Daycare<\/a> in Moncton, along with his one-year-old sister, Matilda. Their parents, Steven and Daphne, have been using fundraising events and volunteer opportunities, such as Salvation Army&#8217;s iconic Christmas kettles, to teach their children at an early age to be community-minded and the importance of helping others.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cHarold likes to run and try to win the prize as top fundraiser,\u201d explains Steven Kwan. \u201cHe is four, so we\u2019re trying to teach the importance of sharing and helping others.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This summer, Harold and Steven took part in<a href=\"https:\/\/salvationarmy.ca\/atlantic\/home\/events\/ice-2-run-moncton\/\"> ICE 2 Run<\/a> \u2013 a virtual run that raises funds for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SAMoncton\">The Salvation Army in Moncton<\/a>. With the help of friends and family, the pair raised more than $200, which earned them a prize for top fundraiser.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI asked my friends and family for donations, so I could win top fundraiser and help others\u201d says Harold. \u201cI got an archery set and treats, then gave the gift basket treats to people that donated, but I ate the marshmallow candy.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe like The Salvation Army\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To date, Harold has taken part in two fundraisers \u2013 The Salvation Army\u2019s ICE 2 Run and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.santashuffle.ca\/\">Santa Shuffle<\/a>, with his dad trying to keep up. Next up, the 2020 virtual Santa Shuffle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI\u2019m gonna be a reindeer and I want to run faster than my dad,\u201d says Harold. \u201cWe like The Salvation Army.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Salvation Army relies on events to raise much-needed funds to support community programs and services. All funds raised go back into the community they were raised in, providing life-changing support for those who need it the most.
