The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) were deployed in mid August to the Northwest Territories to serve meals to first responders battling the wildfires.
As of the week of Sept. 11, our EDS teams are exiting the Yellowknife area now that the evacuation order has been lifted, evacuees are returning home, and business are reopening. However, we are still feeling some evacuees in St. Albert, AB.
EDS staff and volunteers have also put together 500 hygiene kits that will be distributed to evacuees returning to the Northwest Territories. The kits include toiletries such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, shampoo, and more.
