The HOPE in the CITY 2020 event is the launch of our annual Christmas Kettle Campaign, however, this year we’ve had to be a little creative on how we host both the event and our kettles.

We were excited to have Hayley Wickenheiser, OC as our guest speaker for HOPE in the CITY 2020. Wickenheiser is a five-time Olympic Medalist, Member of the Hockey Hall of Fame, and an Officer of the Order of Canada, . This year, we presented Ms. Wickenheiser’s talk via live-stream rather than in-person to ensure everyone’s safety. A great big thank you to our honourary co-chairs, Patrick LaForge and George Brookman.

The Annual Christmas Kettle Campaign seeks donations from the public to help them assist millions of people living in poverty. Contributions allow The Salvation Army’s Community and Family Services across our division to provide many year-round programs and services, such as job and skills training, hot meals, school supplies, counselling, food bank services, and more.

All Kettle donations stay local to support community programs and services for people in need. When you give to The Salvation Army, you are investing in the future of marginalized and overlooked people in your community.

This year we will be having a Day of a Thousand Lunches where The Salvation Army, through our partners, will distribute winter care packages including items such as a bagged lunch, socks, gloves, resource lists/referral information, toiletries, gift cards, etc. to give out to the vulnerable in communities throughout our Division.
