The Salvation Army Centre of Hope in Calgary will be hosting its 14th Annual Family Day Community Meal on Monday, February 17th from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend and enjoy a free turkey dinner with all the trimmings, a little fellowship, and escape the cold.

“Over the years, we have seen the need in downtown Calgary change and now regularly see families with small children or seniors from the area coming together to enjoy this special time together,” said Executive Director, Karen Livick.

The Family Community Meal started in 2006 when it was identified that those living in shelters or on the street still deal with a long winter once the excitement of Christmas was over. Last year’s dinner served over 600 people.

There will be an Emergency Disaster Services vehicle on-site serving hot chocolate for those that are waiting outside in line to have dinner.
