We couldn’t have asked for a better day out! The inaugural Salvation Army Golf Classic in Calgary went off without a hitch. A great big thank you to all of our sponsors, golfers, volunteers, and supporters who joined us at Heritage Pointe Golf Club for a great day of golf.

“We were blessed with a beautiful day for golf,” says Major Al Hoeft, Divisional Secretary for Public Relations. “More importantly, a fantastic group of golfers and supporters who come alongside The Salvation Army as we serve the community of Calgary.”

With 68 golfers hitting the challenging course, it was a great turnout for our first golf tournament in Calgary – and it raised over $23,000 for The Salvation Army. Some of the programs and services offered in Calgary include residential and addiction recovery programs, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, infant essentials, income tax preparation, backpacks and coats for kids, housing support applications, pastoral care, and much more.

“The funds raised from this golf tournament will allow us to update some much needed furniture in the Centre of Hope dinning room, which serves over 325,000 meals a year,” says Karen Livick, Executive Director at the Centre of Hope. “This type of year-round support is critical to our clients and programs, and helps bring awareness to the ongoing work we do. We are so grateful for the support.”

Thank you for helping us Give Hope Today, and being a part of the first Salvation Army Golf Classic in Calgary. We’re already looking forward to next year!
