Calgary Stampeders fan favourites Brandon Smith and Drew Tate were kept busy at The Salvation Army Coat Drive Distribution Day on November 8. The two acted as personal shoppers by helping families pick out coats and other necessities to get them through the cold winter. Mittens, scarves, hats, and even pajamas were also available for anyone needing some extra warmth this winter.

Hundreds of Calgarians attended the family coat distribution to receive one of the 5000 winter and summer jackets that were generously donated by Q107 listeners, school coat drives, and fans at the September 24 Calgary Stampeders home game. Coats were also distributed on November 1 at The Salvation Army's Centre of Hope to residential clients and the homeless.

“These are tough times in Calgary right now,” says Lt. Colonel Larry Martin, Area Director for Public Relations and Development with The Salvation Army. “We have all these winter jackets that were so generously donated to help those struggling, and we’re making sure they get to those needing them most.”

There are some winter jackets left. Anyone in need of coat who was not able to attend the distribution event is welcome to contact Community Services Calgary at 403-220-0432.
