The day started with snow on the ground and cool temperatures, but that didn’t dampen the spirits of the 225 people who attended the first annual Easter Event at The Salvation Army Barbara Mitchell Family Resource Centre on Saturday, April 19.

Families enjoyed egg painting, egg decorating, and cross making activities, as well as tasty BBQ with hamburgers, hot dogs and an ice cream treat. Each child also received a copy of the jelly bean prayer (complete with jelly beans) that tells the Easter story. The day was topped off with an outdoor Easter egg hunt – happily, in the sunshine with no snow!

The Salvation Army wishes to thank all of it’s volunteers who made the event a big success!
