October 26, 2013, wasn’t just another Saturday for The Salvation Army – it was a day full of strategy, fun, laughter, fellowship, and food all for a good cause. The 20th Annual Harvest Brunch & Auction raised just over $66,000 towards an industrial kitchen for Edmonton Community Crossroads. Crossroads operates outreach programs in an inner city area well known for homelessness, prostitution, and drug use.

To help Crossroads out, The Salvation Army Harvest Brunch & Auction Committee decided that funds raised at this years’ event would go towards this very deserving project – and what an amazing day it turned out to be! Over $26,000 alone was raised in the live auction, thanks in part to Mark Scholz of Corus Entertainment, our Emcee and Auctioneer who kept people smiling and laughing throughout the event, and most importantly, bidding on their favourite items.

A special thank-you was given to former Mayor Stephen Mandel for all his support for The Salvation Army during his years as Mayor. Also, four past committee members received Lifetime Membership awards for their contributions over the past 20 years.

An event like this cannot be possible without the help of many. Those who bid, donated items, volunteered, attended, and also to our sponsors, Corus Entertainment, Martin Deerline, and Kuhlmann’s Greenhouses  – thank you for your contribution to helping The Salvation Army Give Hope Today.
